The lamp holder is the part you look at every day. That's why we offer it in metal in twelve finishes, in porcelain, wood, Bakelite and concrete – for E27, E14, GU10 and S14d. All with a cable grip, so the weight of the cable hangs on the housing and not on the terminals. Metal needs 3-core cable; the configurator sorts that out for you.
The lamp holder holds the bulb and defines the look of the bare light. There are three things you need to know: the base (E27 is the big standard, E14 the small one, GU10 for spots), the material (porcelain and metal look high-quality, thermoplastic is light and affordable) and whether you want a shade – for that you need a lamp holder with a double nipple or shade ring.
Metal lamp holders need a cable with an earth wire (3x0.75). All others run on 2x0.75. Lamp holders with a switch are handy for table lamps and plug-in lights; for pendants you're better off with a switch in the cable.
