Wall lights with fabric cable come in three types: hard-wired to the wall box, with a joint for adjusting, and as a plug-in light where the cable runs visibly to the socket. The third is the solution for rented flats and anywhere without a wall outlet.
Next to the bed, a switch on the cable or on the lamp holder is a good idea. For reading, 300–470 lm is enough; for hallways and stairs, 200 lm.
A wall light without a wall connection – does that work?
Yes, with a plug-in light: wall bracket or cable hook on the wall, and the fabric cable runs visibly to the socket. No electrician, no drilling into wiring.
How high should I mount a wall light?
Next to the bed 1.20–1.40 m from the floor, in the hallway 1.60–1.80 m, as a reading light by the armchair roughly at seated head height.
Which wall lights are suitable for bathrooms?
Only those with at least IP44, and IP65 in the direct splash zone of shower and bath. The IP rating is listed for every light in the technical data and as a filter.
