Every light from the configurator comes in two versions. The difference isn't in the parts – they're identical – but in who puts them together.
DIY kit
You get the ceiling rose, cable (cut to your length, plus allowance), lamp holder(s), light bulbs and small parts separately, along with instructions for exactly your set-up. Tools: slotted screwdriver, wire strippers, and a drill for spiders and wall lights. Time: 20 minutes for a single pendant, 45 for a spider with three drops, double that the first time. Cost: the price of the parts plus preparation (cutting, assembling, packing), shown as the kit price in the configurator.
Who it's for: anyone who has wired a lamp before, likes building things themselves or wants a spider light with different drop heights that can still be adjusted when hanging it.
Pre-assembled
The same parts, wired by us: cable cut to length and stripped, lamp holders connected and strain reliefs fitted, ceiling rose wired, and with multiple drops all cables in the connector. Electrically tested before shipping (continuity, insulation, earth conductor for metal parts) and supplied with a test report. Surcharge of 12 to 46 euros depending on the set-up. One step remains at the ceiling: the three cores of the ceiling cable into the ceiling rose's terminal.
Who it's for: anyone without the time or inclination, anyone who wants metal lamp holders with an earth conductor safely connected, or rented flats and landlords who need a tested light.
What not to skimp on with a kit
In both cases the cable length has to be fixed in advance. With the kit you can still trim 10 cm when connecting; with pre-assembly the length is fixed – in return we deliver the drop exactly as entered in the configurator, to the centimetre.
Later changes
Both versions can be rebuilt later: a different lamp holder, a different cable, an extra drop. Pre-assembled lights aren't glued, only wired. Spare parts are available via the item number on your invoice.
What we don't offer
Installation on site. The ceiling connection is a job for an electrician or for you – our guide Fitting a ceiling rose describes it step by step. Trade customers with larger quantities will find the terms on the Dealers & Projects page.
In the configurator this choice is the first item in the summary – the surcharge is shown next to it, and you can switch it until you order.
