A wall canopy, a joint, a lamp holder, a bulb: the jointed wall light is done with four parts and can later be turned in any direction. Next to the bed it replaces the bedside lamp, in the hallway the spotlight, in the bathroom the mirror light, as long as it sits outside the splash zone.
Two options: wall outlet or plug
If there's a wall outlet (usually 180 to 200 cm above the floor, lower next to the bed), the wall rose is mounted directly over it and wired like a ceiling rose: L, N, PE into the connector, strain relief, cover. Without an outlet, go for the version with cable, inline switch and plug: the rose is only screwed to the wall mechanically, and the fabric cable runs visibly to the socket – in the configurator under “Wall light with plug & joint”.
Mounting height
Reading light by the bed: joint at shoulder height when sitting, i.e. about 100 to 120 cm above the floor for a bed with a 50 cm mattress height. That way the arm can be pointed down at the book without the bulb shining in your eyes. In the hallway: 180 cm, arm pointing up or towards the wall for indirect light. At the mirror: to the side at eye level, never above it (shadows under the eyes).
Fixing
The wall rose has two screw holes 60 mm apart (standard) or is hung over a ceiling plate. Two 6 mm wall plugs in masonry, cavity anchors in plasterboard – a swing arm with a 30 cm reach and a metal lamp holder creates leverage that a single wall plug won't hold. Mark it out with a spirit level, because a crooked rose on a wall light is noticed immediately.
Joint and lamp holder
The joint screws in between the ceiling rose and the lamp holder (M10 thread). The cable runs through the inside – when assembling, first thread the cable through the ceiling rose and joint, then connect the lamp holder, then tighten the joint. Tighten the joint screw so the arm holds but can still be moved with one hand; retighten once after a few weeks.
Light Bulbs
With wall lights without a shade you see the bulb from the side – so choose a bulb with a visible filament and low brightness (200 to 350 lumens, 2200 K) that doesn't glare, or the version with a spot shade that focuses the light. For reading light the spot is the better choice, for mood lighting the filament.
Matching builds: Configurator → Wall lights → “With joint” or “With plug & joint”. For outdoor use, the same design is available in an outdoor version with IP65 parts.
